Justin Martyr · Rome, about AD 155
In First Apology 65–67, Justin describes baptismal and Sunday Eucharistic worship: readings, the presider’s exhortation, common prayer, thanksgiving over bread and wine, the people’s Amen, and the ministry of deacons. This is early evidence for an ordered Eucharistic assembly; it does not claim that every ceremony of the later Roman Missal was already present.
